The origin of Peronism. An interprovincial approach

Abstract

The maindebate aboutthe originsof Peronismhas developed frompolitical sociology,inparticular concerningthe characteristics attributedto the working class. That perspectivewas concentratedalmost exclusively inthe Capitaland Greater BuenosAires,disdainingtheArgentine interiorexcept as a reservoir of clientelistic practices. In recent years, the studies that analyzing Peronism fromthe provinceshave advanceddata andarguments thatin a somewhatinorganic wayhavetendedto questionthe classic versions. In this article, we try to combinethese works, mostlyfromrenewed politicalhistory, in order tooutline the contoursof a nationalexplanation of the originof Peronism
