Abstract
The article focuses on policies prosecute against Jews both in Italy and in the Hispanic world. The analysis of the positions expressed by Gregory the Great and Isidore of Seville, as well as the situation reflected by various heuristic resources, allow us to make a picture in which repression and tolerance coexist. The comparison between the two spaces allows us to understand the different attitudes adopted by secular and religious power in the local Jewish communities and the impacts of such guidelines in the following centuries
