Italo Platense Journalism of Century XIX

Abstract

In this brief study we pretended to give some general notions about the Italian "fourth power" on La Plata city. This way, we corroborated that it was the most important abroad journalism, as much as its quality as its quantity. Without exception it offered its columns to its fellow compatriots in order to help them make public their doubts and necessities. At the same time, transmitted clear concepts tending to make stronger the peninsular bond, but simultaneously tried to give to the immigrants a sense of belonging to the new bonaerense capital. In other words, this important social and political actor had a significant participation in making La Plata a city with an indelible italic influence.
