Abstract
In the present work we tried to aproximate to the study of devotion of the Holy Mother in Buenos Aires city during the colony through the identification of commemorations in the calendar and cult places. To do this we traced the associations of seculars with religious purposes and brotherhoods. The sources used are constitution books and acts of record from different brotherhoods, a calendar fron the XVIIIth century and documents given by the Spanish Crown about the organization of religious festivities and brotherhoods reunions. We have also used edited bibliography to trace information about secular associations and cult spaces. This workïs purpose is to build an empiric base to analyze the constitution of religious scenaries that get over the boundaries of private devotion building a public space, to the end of the colonial period.
